About UR Players

What is it?
UR Players is the University of Richmond's only student theatrical organization. We serve as a way to unite UR's theater community through fun meetings. Through our newsletter and GroupMe, members are able to advertise opportunities for involvement in UR's Department of Theater and Dance, their own projects, or anything related to Players or theater.

Why should I join?
Players is a great way to meet other UR students who are interested in theater, whether it be backstage or onstage. We serve as a community that's committed to strengthening the program and creating new friendships!

Is it a huge commitment?
No! We have meetings every other Wednesday from 6-7pm (check the Instagram for more updates). Additionally, we have weekly optional Players dinners on Saturdays, usually from 5-7. Players also requires its members to work on at least 2 All-Call days, which are advertised in the GroupMe. While the club commitment is light, the friendships formed in Players go beyond the time of club meetings, and many members spend time together getting meals together or hanging out together.

Is it exclusive?
No! Players dues are only $3 per semester, or $5 if you choose to pay for two semesters in advance. We believe in the importance of making Players accessible to everyone and don't think that money should be a factor when considering joining. Our community in the club is also incredibly inclusive!

What kind of activities does UR Players do?
UR Players meetings can consist of fun activities, like BINGO, karaoke, or theater trivia, just to name a few. Every few weeks, we have a faculty workshop with our amazing, accomplished, and highly experienced UR faculty.
